Holiday Hope Chest Campaign 2020!! What is it? How can you get involved? Child info/ drop off days and locations at the bottom! The Weekly Sparkle has been involved with this campaign for 8 successful years with over 1,000 boxes donated!

Hello Everyone!!

Can you believe we are already 6 weeks away from Christmas? Well… Happy Holidays! While I know it feels far away, the Giving Season is upon us, and now is the prime time to start thinking about whose holiday you’d like to make sparkle. ✨  It feels like just yesterday I was asking who would be interested in donating Holiday Hope Chests for Lehigh Valley children… and here we are again for another year!

SO LET’S DO THIS!!!!

When I started The Weekly Sparkle, I set out to make a difference through social media by inspiring others to do good locally. Whether it was through thought provoking blogs, The 100 Happy Days Challenge (http://wp.me/P2TGRQ-nO) a one stop shop to locally volunteer in our “Community Support Calendar” or above all, promoting positive thinking, the goal of The Weekly Sparkle was always to spark change. Over 8 years, I’ve been able to speak with people from all over the world (200 countries) who have gone to my site and expressed appreciation or wanted to share a similar experience they had to topics on the site. This has been nothing short of amazing. I can honestly tell you that I feel as though this website has done more and has gone further than I could have ever dreamed, and that I feel so thankful for the incredible support I’ve received.

So, to celebrate The Weekly Sparkle reaching out to 500,000 unique visitors since it’s first post less than 6 years ago, we have decided to continue running a campaign to help others!!! This years the goal of the Holiday Hope Chest campaign we are running, is to donate 200 gift boxes to children in need across the Lehigh Valley! Can you help us make this happen? Do you and your friends at work what to commit to boxes? How about some family members? To date, we’ve helped collect over 1,000 boxes!!

Here is how it works: You let me know how many boxes you’d like to donate (or your coworkers, friends, family, etc) and I give you the ages and gender of the child whose Hope Chest you can create! For example, if you receive a six year old girl, you could get them barbie items, coloring books, stickers, gloves, etc… basically ANYTHING that a child may want/need that fits in a shoe box. We ask that you wrap the base of the box and the lid of the box separate, so that each box can be examined before giving it to the child, but that it stills appears wrapped.

Boxes need to be in before Dec 2- as it takes a lot of planning to get the boxes to each child. I would LOVE to see some commitments for Holiday Hope Chests!!! Let me know how many you’d like to do and when you want to meet!! I would like to have them all in by Wed Dec 2, to ensure proper delivery by Christmas!

Let’s inspire the Lehigh Valley to sparkle more, shall we 🙂

    1. Hi Rochelle,

Thank you so much!! How about boxes for a 9-10 year old boy, and a 9-10 year old girl?

I would need the boxes before Tues Dec 3rd so I can bring all of them to the main drop off point by the 6th. I am flexible to meet anywhere, or will also have 2 drop off nights at the Panera on Airport Road a few nights before that date! Let me know what will work!

The suggested listing for each age range is on the bottom of the post!

THANK YOU again! You’re making the holidays special for a child in need!

  1. I would love to do one. I have a son who will be 3 in December and I was thinking of how I want to start teaching that while he gets blessed double time in December there are some kids less fortunate.

    1. Hi Monica!

Thank you so much!! I think it’s an amazing and beautiful thing that you want to teach your son this value at a young age. I have a girl 11-14 years old that could really use a box!

Do you live in the Lehigh Valley? I’m gonna have a few nights of drop offs at the local Panera off Airport Rd the week of Dec 3rd, or we could arrange something else 🙂

      Thank you again!

      1. Yes I live in Allentown and that would be fine to meet the week of dec 3rd. Can you let me know what I can include in it? I’m not familiar with what preteen girls are into these days, I’m in toddler world lol.

  2. Our school has been in contact with you to participate but I cannot figure out where & when these boxes need to be delivered.

      1. Oh, sorry…deadlines are too tight for me. I will do something for kids through another venue!! Maybe next year… Thanks for the opportunity!

  3. Hi I’m interested in donating holiday hope boxes. I’m having a hard time pulling up info. You can email me 2 children and their wish lists. God Bless you.

      1. Hi, I am not sure my prior note routed. I entered my name here and on Facebook chat with Debby Heckenberger and Lisa. Sorry that I had done that. I can do either of what you need.

      1. Hi James! I wanted to remind you about the drop off tonight at Panera on Airport Rd between 430-530! If for some reason you’re not able to make it, I can give you my address for the Hope Cheat drop off! Thank you so much!!!

      2. Hi, I think Mrs Cathy Fry worked with you last year. Sadly, she passed away in April. I’d like her group of school age children to still get involved in something in her honor. Can you send me an explanation of needs so that we can start working on it? When would the deadline be? Thank you

      3. Hi Cristina, thank you for letting me know about Cathy. The campaign was over by Dec 1st as we needed to get the gifts to the Volunteer Center by then so they could separate them for the kids. I will absolutely get information to you earlier next year to see if you are interested! Merry Christmas to you and thank you for reaching out ❤

      1. Hi Lindsey! I wanted to remind you about the drop off tonight at Panera on Airport Rd between 430-530! If for some reason you’re not able to make it, I can try and coordinate a time to meet you in the next day or so!! Thank you so much!
